HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s “American Idol” finalist was eliminated last night.
Naima Adedapo of Milwaukee was sent home, along with 16-year-old Thia Megia of Hayward California. Both got the least number of votes from viewers after their singing performances on Wednesday night.
Two candidates were let go because the judges saved Casey Abrams from the chopping block last week. Nine remain.
The finalists sang Elton John songs this week, and Adedapo did a reggae version of “I’m Still Standing.” The judges had mixed reactions. Steven Tyler liked it, but Randy Jackson called it “corny.”
Her mother, Adekola Adedapo, praised Naima’s song choices. She said they reflected her vision as an artist. Her mother said she was proud of Naima, and she expects her to return to Milwaukee next week. She’s a member of the Ko-Thi Dance Company.
Adedapo was only the second finalist from Wisconsin in “American Idol’s” 10 seasons on Fox.
