WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Three people escaped injury Tuesday night when a single-engine plane crash landed at the Waukesha County Airport.
Authorities said the plane’s landing gear failed to operate as the craft was coming down – and it slid almost 800 feet on a runway at Crites Field. The pilot was a 60-year-old man from Germantown. His male passengers were 17 and 18, who were on a Young Eagles’ flight for the Boy Scouts.
The plane took off from Crites Field and landed about a half-hour later, just before 8 p.m. Tuesday. Officials are trying to find out why the landing gear failed.
