MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Seventy-two people have been murdered in Milwaukee this year.
The Journal Sentinel says it’s the same number of people killed as in all of 2009. A 3-year-old girl was among a trio of homicide victims this past weekend.
Police said Mattasia Bowie died Saturday from head trauma. Her 20-year-old mother was arrested on a homicide charge, and her 21-year-old boyfriend was arrested on a possible charge of child abuse causing death.
Police say they’re still looking for suspects in the other 2 slayings. Both happened early Saturday. 27-year-old Darrell Mayfield was shot to death, and his body was found in a north side alley. 43-year-old Robin Harrison was found dead with head trauma.
