MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A former Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Friday morning to a year-and-a-half in prison for beating a handcuffed suspect who asked to use a restroom. Circuit Judge Thomas Donegan also told 38-year-old Scott Krause to spend a year under extended supervision when he’s no longer behind bars.
Prosecutors said Krause stepped out of his squad car last October when a suspect in the back seat tapped on a window and said he had to go to the bathroom. Krause responded punching and slapping the man’s face. The officer pleaded no contest in January to felony misconduct and misdemeanor battery. And the conviction cost him his job with the Milwaukee sheriff’s department.
