MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - 32 people were killed in Wisconsin highway crashes last month. That’s one more than in February of last year – and it’s 6 fewer than the average for the past 5 years. The DOT said 52 people were killed in state crashes in the first 2 months of 2010. That’s 14 fewer than the same period a year ago, and 33 less than the 5-year average.
Meanwhile, the DOT says it will end the winter frozen-road exemption at 12:01 Saturday morning for state roads north of Highway 8. Trucks carrying forest products and highway salt were allowed to have heavier than normal weight limits during the winter. But things are changing with the warmer weather. The frozen law ended Thursday south of Highway 8.
