MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Milwaukee is growing, but some other cities are growing faster.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates from last July put the population of Wisconsin's largest city at 604,133. Seattle, Denver and Nashville moved past Milwaukee, dropping it to 26th place among the country's largest cities.
Madison remains one of Wisconsin's fastest growing cities, adding more than 26,000 residents for an estimated population of 235,626. That's a gain of 12.5 percent.
Kenosha and Waukesha had big gains, but major cities like La Crosse, Green Bay and West Allis all lost population between 2000 and July 2009.
