MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Milwaukee County’s low-income residents are scrambling to replace food benefits lost in the recent floods. Recipients in the state’s Food-Share program have created long lines outside a Milwaukee human services center.
The state Department of Health Services has also created a phone line for recipients to replace part of their July food benefits. But the Journal Sentinel said folks were waiting an hour on the phone this morning to reach somebody who could help them.
Over 88-thousand Milwaukee County households are in the Food-Share program. Here’s the phone number for the emergency benefit hotline – 1-888-947-6583.
