MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - New questions are being raised, as investigators find discrepancies in how the decorative panels were installed at a Milwaukee parking ramp where a teenager was killed.
Thursday, workers removed a second concrete panel which was similar to the slab that fell one floor in late June, killing 15-year-old Jared Kellner who was walking underneath. The second slab was only connected in 2 places instead of 4, just like the panel that fell.
And X-ray exams of the other 70 slabs showed that the connections varied from piece to piece – and all of them were different than originally designed.
Attorneys for the Kellner boy and 2 others who were injured watched the second slab being moved from the ramp. A county attorney said he wanted no questions later about the possible tampering of evidence.
According to the Journal Sentinel, investigators are trying to determine if the variations in the connections resulted in the accident. The downtown ramp in question is less than 20 years old.
