MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - U.S. Senate Democrat Russ Feingold has an early lead in his race, according to the UW Badger Poll.
Feingold, a three-term Democrat, leads Republican Ron Johnson 27 to 21 percent. But that still leaves over half of the 500 people surveyed undecided.
Johnson owns a plastics packaging plant in Oshkosh – and he’s got a lot of work to do to get the voters to know him. 85 percent in the Badger Poll say they don’t enough about Johnson yet. 9 percent gave him a favorable rating, and 5 percent unfavorable.
Johnson is the state GOP’s endorsed candidate who will run against Dave Westlake in the September primary. Both Feingold and Johnson ran dueling TV ads this week, but voters don’t seem to be paying attention yet. 63 percent say they’re following the Senate race either very little, or not at all.
