MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - An Amber Alert has been cancelled for 3 Milwaukee kids after last being seen Sunday afternoon with their mother.
A State Patrol dispatcher tells the AP that 34-year-old Lavatta Smith was pulled over Monday afternoon around 4:25 p.m. after another motorist recognized her vehicle and license plate from the Amber Alert.
The dispatcher contends Smith was arrested in Kenosha County. The children are safe and have been taken into police custody.
Authorities had issued the alert in Wisconsin and Illinois after Smith disappeared with her children - a 9-year-old son, 4 and 7-year-old daughters. Police reveal Smith has a history of mental health problems and were concerned for the safety of the kids.
