MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - The Wisconsin Senate has approved a bill that requires most of the state government’s contracted work to remain in the U.S. The measure is designed to keep contractors from moving jobs overseas. The Assembly passed it last year, and it now goes to Governor Jim Doyle. Spokesman Adam Collins says the governor supports measures that American jobs here, but he’d have to review the bill before committing to it. The bill would not apply to contractors paid by federal or UW funds – or if services could not be obtained in this country.
