GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAU) - The woman who crashed a mini-van in Green Bay with seven kids inside should have been behind bars.
She was supposed to be serving a six-month sentence for shoplifting, among other charges. She had been given work-release privileges in August, but didn't come back to the work-release center last month.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office says she was in jail for using her children to help her shoplift. That's what she apparently was doing last week. She was trying to get away when she slammed her van into a second vehicle.
The 35 year old suspect was hospitalized. Her children were also injured in the crash.
