MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Milwaukee pedophile who’s been in treatment since his prison term ended 13 years ago will not be released. A jury has decided to keep 36-year-old Shawn Schulpius at the state’s Sand Ridge Treatment Center in Mauston. His attorney says Schulpius has made great progress in controlling his sexual urges for children – and it’s not fair to keep him locked up forever because of what he might do in the future. But prosecutor Chris Liegel said Schulpius has only made what he called “baby steps” in his progress – and he’s still more likely to re-offend than not. Schulpius was convicted in 1991 of having sexual contact with a 4-year-old boy. He’s been treated since then under the state’s commitment law for sex offenders.
