MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - The American Institute of Architects has awarded its first fellowship to a Wisconsin designer since 1995. James Shields of Milwaukee was recognized for his contributions to architecture and to society. He runs a Milwaukee architectural firm, and he’s an associate professor at UWM. Shields’ projects include Milwaukee’s Discovery World, the renovation of a Catholic cathedral in the city, and the Butterly Vivarium at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Shields will be honored at the institute’s national conference this summer in Miami.
