MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - The Moose International service groups have chosen Milwaukee for their national convention in 2013. It will be one of the largest such gatherings in recent years in Wisconsin’s largest city. The Moose will bring 7,000 delegates, book 18,000 nights worth of hotel rooms, and add about $9 million to Milwaukee’s economy. Brent Foerster of Visit Milwaukee said his community came together to win a very significant convention for the city. Moose International includes both men’s and women’s organizations with a total of 1.1 million members.
Meanwhile, Visit Milwaukee says this summer will be busier than last year for conventions. Over 65,000 room nights have been booked for various meetings from June through August. That’s 11 percent more than the same time in 2009.
