PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. (WTAQ) - A 75-year-old pilot from Middleton escaped injury when his single-engine plane crash-landed Wednesday in a snowy field near Prairie du Sac.
Sauk County authorities said Chauncey Yost Jr. wanted to land at the Sauk-Prairie Airport. But he was unfamiliar with the area – and he flew under a series of high power lines at the field, which caused him to make an abrupt landing.
Yost went down about a half-mile from the airport. The FAA is investigating the incident, which involved a 1981 fixed-wing Piper owned by the Madison Air Guard Flying Club.
