MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A man who tried to rob an off duty Milwaukee police officer is in jail on this Christmas Eve.
The 21-year-old man was shot during the incident Thursday afternoon, and he was treated at a hospital for a minor wound before being hauled off to jail.
Police said the man was armed with a knife when he tried to rob the 42-year-old officer in the parking lot of a northwest side apartment complex. The man tried to run away after being shot, but he was captured by other officers a short time later.
An 18-year-old accomplice was also arrested. That person was not armed.
The officer is a 9-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police force. He’s been put on desk duty while the incident is investigated internally.
