WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (WTAQ) - A pilot was injured today when his twin engine Piper crashed as it was about to land at the Baraboo Wisconsin Dells Airport.
Sauk County sheriff’s deputies said the pilot was the only person aboard, and he had to be extricated before being sent to UW Hospital in Madison.
His name was not immediately released, and neither was his condition or the extent of his injuries. But officials said the pilot was alert when talking to rescuers.
The plane had taken off from nearby Reedsburg. Airport manager Bill Murphy said the craft was about to land when it crashed in a cornfield about 10 am and flipped over. It landed about a mile short of the airport’s runway.
