Milwaukee Man Wants DOJ to Stop Saying He's a Convicted Criminal

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Milwaukee man wants the state Justice Department to stop telling people that he’s a convicted criminal when he’s not. 27-year-old Dennis Teague has filed a lawsuit against the agency, saying it confuses him with Anthony Terrell Parker – a felon who uses an alias that’s similar to Teague’s name.

The real Teague says his reputation is damaged every time he applies for a job or an apartment. That’s because the employer or landlord does a background check, and the Justice Department tells them he’s a convicted felon when in reality he has no criminal record. Last year, the agency told Teague’s attorney that it’s a fact of life that many names are similar – and the department works hard to prevent confusion.
