KALAMAZOO -- The National Transportation Safety Board will issue its preliminary report on Tuesday’s crash at Kalamazoo Battle Creek international this weekend.
Investigator John Brannen says they have pulled out the engine that several witnesses said was sputtering and smoking before the plane crashed. He says while they did not initially find any problems with the engine, he says they will take it back to the factory and jointly tear it down with Beechcraft mechanics. He says they have not settled on the cause.
He says it usually takes them as much as 6 months to get all the tests done and issue their final report.
60 year old James Wilton of Ontario died in Tuesday’s crash.
