Milwaukee, Wi (WSAU) The PGA Tour has been in Milwaukee for 42 years. No longer. The tournament, originally called the Greater Milwaukee Open, has been looking for a sponsor since U.S.Bank pulled out of their sponsorship deal. Attendance had been declining as the tournament fought the problem of having the same dates as the British Open.
The Board of Directors of Milwaukee Golf Charities voted Wednesday to dissolve. Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelley are working on plans to start a new a tournament but no details have been released.
