Apparently New Jersey has been through this before, with another atheist themed plate. This denial is mind-boggling to me. If someone wants a plate that says, "CATHLIK,""LUTHREN" or "8THEIST" I have no problem with any of them. And if she did test this by submitting one that said "BAPTIST" and had it approved, then this story just gets stranger.
Perhaps it's time for states to revisit the entire concept of personalized plates.
