I know a lot of regular listeners to my show and readers of this blog may disagree, but I'm not so sure chasing a terrified pig for entertainment and possibly injuring it isn't abuse. And even if it isn't, I'm not a fan of this. Raised on a farm, I was taught early on that cows weren't to be used for entertainment. As very young children we were sometimes allowed to ride some of the tamer animals, but beyond that my dad made it clear that cows weren't playthings.
I don't know how injured the animal in this video is but I can easily see how it could be seriously injured. There are no visible safety protocols here for the animal or, more importantly, for the participants. Abuse or not in the legal sense, I cannot condone this.
That said, the demands of this animal rights group are preposterous. But, I feel the practice should stop.
