Not a surprise. If the State couldn't refute that the clinics would close, then there was no way they avoided this freeze. And the argument that far northern residents can travel further south isn't going to fly. This will likely hinge on whether requiring admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles is unreasonable. The argument against is abortion providers typically don't need to admit enough patients to maintain privileges.
The other key here will be whether the state can establish that Pines' estimate of how often complications occur is low, and how far off the mark it is. This provision of the law was always problematic.
