As the Packers began preparations for Sunday's match against the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Mike McCarthy's message was clear, don't contemplate the bye week after the game until the game is actually over. Even though he offered an extra couple of days off for the team if they win on Sunday, McCarthy made it clear, "we're pouring everything we have into beating the Cardinals." Wide receiver James Jones appreciated the gesutre but admitted the Packers in the past have lost focus thinking about what they'll be doing on the off-week or looking at the standings to see what other teams are up to. Arizona will arrive desperate to revive what looked like a promising season. They got off to a 4-0 start with victories over New England and Philadelphia but have since dropped four straight, getting embarrased at home by division rival San Francisco 24-3 on Monday night. The Packers first injury report of the week was once again, lengthy. Greg Jennings and Charles Woodson of course are already ruled out. Jennings is apparently headed to Philadelphia for his surgery to repair the sports hernia. The operation was postponed on Tuesday because of hurricane Sandy. Several other players did not practice, John Kuhn with a hamstring, Jordy Nelson with a hamstring, Jerel Worthy coming off a concussion, Nick Perry with a knee injury, Sam Shields with ankle and shin issues and Mike Neal with an ankle sprain. Limited on the first practice day of the week were Donald Driver with neck and thumb injuries, Jermichael Finley with a shoulder, T.J. Lang with elbow and wrist issues and Ryan Pickett with an ankle. Aaron Rodgers was also listed on the report with a calf injury but was a full participant.
Davon House was named the NFC's Special Teams player of the week for his blocked punt against Jacksonville that resulted in a touchdown recovery for Dezmon Moses. The first award for House in his second season and he becomes only the second, non-kicker to win the award for the Packers. It was the first blocked punt for the team in 9 years and it was the first touchdown off a blocked punt since 1990.
