It was the worst loss in the Aaron Rodgers era.  The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants looked awfully refreshed coming off their bye, despite a two game slide, while the Packers looked fatigued and ready for another bye in a dismal 38-10 drubbing Sunday night before a national television audience at chilly MetLife Stadium.  The 28 point margin was the largest since Rodgers became the starting quarterback in 2008.  The 31 points allowed before halftime were the most Green Bay had surrendured in an entire game this year.  It was ugly in every phase.  Many coaches will tell you games are won in the trenches and that certainly was the case.  New York's offensive line opened gaping holes that produced 147 rushing yards.  The unit protected Eli Manning to the tune of 249 yards passing, only 1 sack for minus five yards and three touchdowns, allowing Manning to eclipse Phil Simms as the all-time Giant passing TD leader with and even 200.  On the other side of the ball, New York's front four overwhelmed the makeshift offensive line, getting Rodgers sacked five times, including a strip sack from Osi Umenyoria with the fumble scooped up by Jason Pierre-Paul.  Rodgers was also picked off by Corey Webster two series after he was victimized by Jordy Nelson for a 61 yard first quarter touchdown that tied the score at 7, about the only highlight of the night for the Pack.  The Giants hit a 59 yard screen pass against an inside blitz from A.J. Hawk and Brad Jones on the opening drive.  Ahmad Bradshaw was tackled at the two but two plays later, Andre Brown crashed in for a 7-0 lead.   Nelson beat Webster on a double move and caught the sideline route at the 30 and strolled in for the tying score just 4:16 into the game.  The Packers had a third and three at the New York 37 on their next series looking for the lead when Rodgers was sacked by Chris Canty for a loss of 2.  Mike McCarthy sent out Mason Crosby, mired in a career worst slump to try a 55 yard field goal.  He had plenty of leg but it hooked just wide left.  The Giants responded with a 55 yard touchdown drive, capped by Rueben Randle's 16 yard touchdown catch behind Devon House and M.D. Jennings for a 14-7 lead.   On the next Green Bay snap, Webster came off James Jones on a sideline route to step in front of Rodgers' hook route to Randall Cobb for the interception.   The Packers defense held but Lawrence Tynes booted a 43 yard field goal for a 10 point lead after the first quarter.  Victor Cruz hauled in a 9 yard scoring pass on the next drive to make it 24-7 with 9;37 left in the half.  The Packers moved to the Giant 11 but failed on a third and one leading to Crosby's 28 yard field goal.   It looked like Green Bay may get another shot at points but Rodgers was sacked, fumbled and New York had it at the 26.  After a 13 yard grab by Randle, Bradshaw barreled through a big hole for a 13 yard touchdown run and the game was all but over at intermission.  Hakeem Nicks stretched over a House tackle for a 13 yard scoring pass midway through the 3rd for the final result.   A failed 4th and 5 pass at the New York 14 was the last scoring opportunity for the Pack.  New York then chewed up 9:23 of the 4th quarter driving 79 yards and even up 28, went for it on 4th and goal at the one but a pass to Nicks in the end zone was tipped by Dezmon Moses.   The Packers ran up the white flag allowing Graham Harrell to quarterback the final 9 offensive snaps.   New York won every statistical category, from total yards (390-317), first downs (23-16), turnovers (2-0), penalties (4-7) and time of posession (31:13-28:47).   As a result, both teams are 7-4 but New York leads the NFC East while the Packers dip behind the Bears by a game yet still hold on to the number five seed in the now very crowded NFC playoff picture.  Rodgers finished with a passer rating of 81.9 on 14 of 25 completions for 219 yards with a score and a pick and those five sacks.  Green Bay did rush for 116 yards but no one had more than 35.   C.J. Wilson left the game with a knee injury and did not return and backup running back Johnny White suffered a concussion early in the game.  Even though Greg Jennings worked out in uniform beforehand, he was inactive, as was Clay Matthews, Charles Woodson, Sam Shields, Andrew Quarless, Terrell Manning and Vic So'oto.  Whether it's by 1 or by 28, a loss is a loss but this was a bit more distressing to see the Packers get dominated by the defending champs.  Maybe the injury toll can be withstood against the likes of the Jaguars, Cardinals and Lions, all teams with 4 or fewer wins, it wasn't the case against a solid, well rested NFC contender.  The Packers return home to start their final NFC North push with Lambeau games against the Vikings and the Lions before the rematch in Chicago.   They've won 9 straight in the division and badly need to make it 10 to eliminate the awful taste of a rotten egg laid in the Meadowlands on this night.
