Atari Bigby pulled his hamstring early in the Minnesota game and has already been ruled out of Sunday's showdown in Atlanta. He did not practice today nor did backup safety Anthony Smith with a sprained ankle. When asked after the workout if he's got enough safeties for Sunday, Head Coach Mike McCarthy responded quickly, "Sure, we've got Nick Collins, Charlie Peprah and Jarrett Bush, I feel good."
The other six players on the opening injury report were all limited at practice. Chad Clifton (knee), Donald Driver (quad), Cullen Jenkins (calf), Clay Matthews (shin), Scott Wells (arch) and Charles Woodson (toe). All six should be fine for the Falcons game.
There are two ex-Falcons on the roster, running back Dimitri Nance and Peprah. Both are not surprised to see this team leading the NFC at 8-2. Peprah said head coach Mike Smith has the team extremely well prepared and they play smart, aggressive football. A leg up on the race for best record in the NFC is on the line but this game doesn't seem to be creating a whole lot of buzz league-wide. The Packers success in domes under McCarthy (now 10-3) will be tested by a regime that has played 21 games since Mike Smith took over for Jim Mora at the height of the Michael Vick dogfighting controversy, drafted Matt Ryan number one at quarterback, and they've lost only three, two of them when Ryan didn't play because of injury. I'll have a full preview with locker room quotes on Friday, until then, Happy Thanksgiving!
