Al Harris told a Milwaukee radio station last night the Packers are going to cut him today.   Harris told ESPN 540 he will be released by the team after practicing for the past three weeks trying to come off the physically unable to perform list.  Harris suffered a catostrophic knee injury last November against the San Francisco 49ers.  In his seven seasons in Green Bay, Harris started all 102 regular season games, intercepting 14 passes including the unforgettable 52 yard game winning pick for 6 in overtime against Matt Hasselbeck and the Seattle Seahawks in the 2003 playoff game at Lambeau Field.  He also earned back to back Pro Bowl berths following the 2007 and 2008 seasons.   The Packers apparently believe Harris has not recovered sufficiently to help the team this year plus the fact starter Tramon Williams has played well and rookie Sam Shields is entrenching himself as the nickel back, recording his first career interception Sunday night against the Cowboys.   The Packers have until today to either activate Harris, place him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season and pay him his more than 2 million dollar salary, or give him his release.    Harris may be free to sign with any team for the final 8 weeks of the season, his 13th in the NFL.  This would be an unfortunate end to an exemplary career in a Packers uniform.
