Packers OTA Week 2

Posted by Mark Daniels on

It will be the most closely watched position battle on the team once training camp arrives.  It's already getting a lot of attention even in early June.   Pro Bowler Aaron Kampman hit the road and signed a free agent contract with Jacksonville this off-season leaving a void at left outside linebacker on the Green Bay defense.  Rookie Brad Jones took over when Kampman's season ending knee injury occured last November but veteran Brady Poppinga is also in the mix.  The team believes one of the two will emerge after leaving the position alone in the draft.   Head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday both players are having an excellent spring and there are several other options at the team's disposal, using Brandon Chillar or A.J.Hawk outside in some sub packages with a collection of defensive linemen for instance.   Let's go inside the locker room to hear what the principals have to say about the battle for the backer job.
