Word is a Texas chef has successfully deep-fried beer!
Apparently the beer is placed inside a pretzel-like dough and is then deep-fried long enough for the dough to get crisp, but for the alcohol to remain intact. The inventor's name is Mark Zable. He said it took him three years to perfect the recipe. He says it tastes like you took a bite of hot pretzel dough and then took a drink of beer. I don't know about you, but my first thought is, "Hot Beer?" That's the only part of this that makes me leery about trying it if I ever had the opportunity. Although, I must admit, I would try it. Say it with me...MMM BEER!
Deep fried beer was one of the finalists for a prize at the annual "Big Tex Choice Awards" competition, along with other concoctions such as fried caviar, fried potato pie, deep fried frozen margarita, fried lemonade and fried chocolate. And the winner is......deep fried Frito Pie. I can feel my waistline expanding just thinking about these things!
