Hey Bader, maybe you should pull your kid from the great public school she attends and put her in a damn voucher school. Put up or shut up body
Okay, here's meeting putting up "Dingler." You are starting from a fallacious point, that I don't believe some public schools are great schools. Of course there are. In fact, my wife and I made a school choice when we moved to the Green Bay area nine years ago. We decided Ashwaubenon schools were better than Green Bay schools. And they are. almost every school district surrounding Green Bay is, in my opinion. However, had a voucher program been available in Ashwaubenon (and it still won't be, regardless of what happens with Governor Walker's current proposal), we would have explored whether a voucher school would be a better fit, if we qualified for vouchers.
Yes, Ashwaubenon has very good schools, compared to other schools within the public school monopoly. But just as some public schools are great, some are awful. If most are great, few parents will want their children in voucher schools. So, what are you worried about? If public schools are mostly great, children will mostly stay in them, even if their parents have a choice. If virtually all customers are satisfied with public schools, facing competition will have no impact on public schools. But if they're not mostly satisfied customers...
As for my daugher, she's a junior and voucher schools aren't coming to Ashwaubenon anytime soon. But as I wrote above, had it been an option, we would have explored it.
