Remember When Joe Scarborough was the conservative on MSNBC?

Neither do I. I will admit some of the talk from the right has been hyperbolic. But the reality is the left is trying to use Sandy Hook to get the gun control they've always wanted. Two things are laughable here. First there is Scarborough lecturing the gun rights crowd that they can't take your guns, the 2nd Amendment won't allow it. Yes, we know the 2nd Amendment doesn't allow it. That doesn't mean they won't take incremental steps to erode the 2nd Amendment.

Two: accusing gun rights advocates of being the ones exploiting this tragedy. The left didn't wait for the bodies to be removed from Sandy Hook elementary school before they started blaming the gun and the NRA. And the reality of the situation is that whatever gun control measures are put in place there will be another Sandy Hook. And they'll come back for more gun control. And another in the future, and they'll come back for more

Bonus point: Scarborough paints universal background checks as one of those "little things" that should be done right away. Universal has been defined by most observers as all gun transactions. To parahrase the Vice President who, coincidentally, has taken point on the gun debate, "that's a big deal." And the reality is the only gun control that will stop the next Sandy Hook is to confiscate all guns in America. No, that won't happen. But Scarborough is in denial if he doesn't believe such wishful thinking is mainstream in the anti-gun left.
