White House weighs broad gun control agenda

Posted by Jerry Bader on

It became apparently last week that the White House is eyeing changes that go far beyond "assault weapons and magazines." I predicted that the WH is looking at Executive Order to get this done and this story does nothing to change my opinion. They can rally all the troops they want, there is no way they get this type of sweeping gun control through Congress, certainly not by the end of January, as Vice President Joe Biden promised Boston Mayor Menino.

But having Wal-Mart and other supporters would help make the case for an EO that circumvents the 2nd Amendment. Republicans who have been virtually impotent when Obama has stretched the Constitution with previous EO's need to be ready for this and Obama may be betting they won't be. They seem to be cowering in fear of the president since November 6 and seem snake bit by Sandy Hook. President Obama will use that timidness to push any and every agenda; including gun control.
