Capers will be Back Next Season

I was among those who felt the Packers needed to seriously examine whether Capers was their man at Defensive Coordinator. The reality is Capers' defenses have a history of being vulenerable in playoff games. His upstart 1996 Carolina Panthers were built on a stout defense but came into Lambeau Field for the NFC Championship game and were rolled over by Brett Favre and the Packers offense. And then there is Capers' recent history with the Packers in the playoffs.

When many thought letting Favre go and beginning the Aaron Rodgers era was a mistake, I said I trusted Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson. I still do. But that doesn't mean they're always right. We'll see this time. By the way, it appears the Packers are taking some steps to address their horrible performance against the read option offense. I guess this makes sense. But what does it tell you when the Packers performed the worst of any playoff team against the 49'ers offense and they're going to turn to a college team for advice on how to fix this?
