Well, he is doing the right thing by leaving. But it's pretty obvious he still isn't being honest about any of this. I'm guessing the paper was given an earful by people who haven't seen the Hoenisch anywhere around the department for some time, which prompted the request for the records that show him AWOL. And yes, I lump my share of criticism on the media but in this case Hoenisch really is blaming the messenger. And no, I don't believe he planned on retiring after his wife's sentencing in April. Hoenisch was literally stealing from taxpayers by not doing his job. If he didn't make this announcement a recall should have been organized.
