A very good analysis by Fred Barnes. During the third debate a friend texted me and said he thought Romney just won the election. I agreed. Yes, the next day I said my one regret was Romney didn't go stronger after Benghazi. But I felt Romney's strategy of looking presidential would work over time, despite the early reviews to the contrary. My friend and I were right. A Rasmussen poll found that voters felt Romney won the entire debate series. Barnes is right about how the split screen hurt Biden, but I truly believe it hurt Obama more in the third presidential debate
The President looked downright scowling on that split screen. I compared him with Bogart's Captain Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny." It was eerily similar. If Barnes is right, and I believe he is, that the 2012 debates are a larger factor than any previous debates, this could be a watershed moment. Because if they are a dominant factor in a Romney/Ryan victory it will also be a victory of their substance over the Obama/Biden style. A big win indeed.
