The "I, me, my" tendency of President Obama is well documented. But if there is one place where it's not about you, it's a eulogy. I get the sense that Mr. Obama doesn't realize he's doing this; that is to say it's not a concious effort. Such is the nature of being self-absorbed; it only makes sense to him to speak of a Democratic Senator that even Republicans speak of with admiration and respect by constantly referencing himself.
