The crux of this story is whether the state imposing a per-customer fee on strip clubs in Texas is a tax on free speech. The argument is a "tax" on seeing the strippers is an effort to curb their freedom of expression. An interesting argument, but what I found even more interesting was the state's rationale for imposing the tax: to prevent the rapes that come from men getting drunk while watching strippers.

I don't recall hearing much about the notion that patrons of strip clubs often rape. And wouldn't this suggest that men who drink and watch women undress get so sexually excited that the go out and rape a woman? Wouldn't that contradict the longstanding belief that rape is about power, not sex?
