The Sheboygan Press Apologizes for Being Duped by Ellie Light

Posted by Jerry Bader on

UPDATE: Warren Bluhm of the Green Bay Press Gazette tells me that this is a function of the Gannett search engine, and this letter did not appear on the Sheboygan Press Website three times: Warren's explanation:

Ms. Light's letter was not published three times by anyone. The search engines for Gannett Wisconsin Media are linked, so that when you do a search for "Ellie Light" at any of the 10 Web sites, you'll get her Jan. 13 letter to the Door County Advocate, her Jan. 17 letter to the Sheboygan Press and her Jan. 21 letter to the Oshkosh Northwestern. And when you click on the link in the search engine, the logo of the host newspaper appears at the top of the page. If six papers posted the same AP story, the search engine would call up the story six times.

That's why it appears that the Press-Gazette also published the letter three times, even though we never printed it at all.

Not bad.
