As this Wall Street Journal piece points out, oil companies didn't want to have to explore this far out to sea, but were left no choice by envriomentalists keeping them from drilling closer to shore. But wouldn't the irony be so delicious if, as this story suggests, there is a massive amount of oil in the Atlantic stretching from Africa to North America, that could revitalize fossil fuel use for the next century? The Envriomental whackos have always counted on us "running out of oil." What if by their own restrictions they've pushed oil companies to discover hithero unimagined deposits of oil?
