Everybody understands the importance of airport security. That said, can any reasonable person defend this? The TSA isn't, saying it shouldn't have happen. But the question here is why does it keep happening? The answer is that when your decisions could bring down a commercial airliner, it's pretty easy to skip common sense and go with zero tolerance. And this problem is fueled by the notion that just about any type of profiling is out of line. Combine that and you get an off-duty police officer's four-year-old son being ordered out of the leg braces that allow him to walk. Don't you feel safer?
