Santa Clara Co. CA Bans Toys in Happy Meals

These supervisors (a county board of just five supervisors?) are bothered by the fact the toy is used to entice children into eating unhealthy food. So the piece of junk that passes for a toy in a Happy Meal is a factor in childhood obesity? How about parents who refuse to say no when their kid begs for the toy or the food itself?

Why not just do what you REALLY want to do: ban the food? Consider this: they think the toy is used an enticement to get the kid to eat the food and they want to ban the enticement. Logic dictates that means they think it's bad for the kid to eat the food. Then why allow the food at all if it's a health hazard to children? Because it's classic liberal incrementalism; getting away with as much as you can, for now.
