Judge, jury and executioner

by Mark Daniels

In advance of the final dress rehearsal Thursday night at Lambeau Field against the Kansas City Chiefs, Packers General Manager Ted Thompson met reporters for the last time in training camp today in the media auditorium.

The toughest part of his job awaits after the game as he must decide which 53 players will wear the Green and Gold into the 2014 season. Yes, it's crunch time:

So where will the toughest calls come from? How about quarterback. You keep both Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien, or only one? At wide receiver, is the potential of Jeff Janis enough to push aside Myles White or Kevin Dorsey? Which tight end is the odd man out? There's young blood at linebacker where Adrian Hubbard, Jayrone Elliott and draft pick Carl Bradford are making the likes of Nate Palmer and Andy Mulumba, maybe even Nick Perry, a former number one pick, sweat. A pretty good cornerback is going to get cut if Jumal Rolle and Demetri Goodson can't crack that group. The five week case will have closing arguments tomorrow night and the deliberations will begin with a verdict due by Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
